Vinícius Júnior signs new Real Madrid deal until 2032

Vinícius Júnior has brought an end to speculation over his future by signing a new long-term contract with Real Madrid, committing himself to the Spanish club until 2032. The agreement closes the door on Arsenal, who had been strongly linked with the Brazil international during the summer.

Arsenal interest comes to nothing

Arsenal's hopes had grown amid uncertainty surrounding Vinícius, whose previous deal had entered its final 12 months. Real Madrid's difficult 2025-26 season, in which the club failed to win a trophy, and the early questions that followed José Mourinho's arrival in Madrid had added to the sense that his future might be open.

Instead, Vinícius has chosen to stay. Real confirmed the extension in an official statement, announcing that the forward's contract now runs until 30 June 2032. It is a significant show of faith from both player and club after a turbulent period on and off the pitch.

Vinícius joined Real Madrid in July 2018 as an 18-year-old and has developed into one of the defining players of the club's recent era. Across eight seasons in Madrid, he has made 375 appearances, scored 128 goals and collected 14 trophies.

Vinícius also left little doubt about his desire to remain at the Bernabéu. In a message on Instagram, he said:

“Eight years at the Bernabéu are too few … six more years, and for ever!”

The 26-year-old had already hinted that an extension was close during an in-house interview earlier in the week. He spoke then about Mourinho wanting him to feel happy and joyful again after what had been described as a difficult spell.

Fresh start after a difficult year

The new deal arrives after a frustrating 12 months for both club and player. Real Madrid went without silverware in 2025-26, while Vinícius also experienced disappointment on the international stage following Brazil's last-16 exit at the World Cup in America.

With his future now settled, the focus shifts to what comes next under Mourinho. Real have been active in the market, adding Yan Diomande, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté, Marc Cucurella and Denzel Dumfries as they look to rebuild and challenge again for major honours.
