Just 27 hours after Poland’s first game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chicago Fire are due to face Charlotte FC. A similarly tight gap exists between Poland’s return fixture against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Chicago Fire’s meeting with Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Whitecaps match had originally been scheduled for 16 July and was set to be Lewandowski’s MLS debut, but it was postponed because of poor air quality in Chicago. That rescheduling has only added to the congestion around the autumn period.

For Poland, the likely compromise would mean having their captain available for the opening fixture, but not for the remaining three games of the camp.

The upcoming gathering is also expected to bring clarity on a bigger issue: Lewandowski’s international future in the months ahead.
