PSG sign Ferran Torres from Barcelona in £43m deal

Paris St-Germain have completed the signing of Ferran Torres from Barcelona for a reported fee of about 50m euros (£42.7m), with the Spain forward agreeing a contract until 2031.

The 26-year-old arrives in Paris after a season in which his profile rose sharply for both club and country. Torres played a decisive role in Spain's World Cup triumph, scoring the extra-time winner against Argentina in the 2026 final to help his country secure a second men's world title.

That international success came on the back of a productive campaign with Barcelona. Torres scored 21 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions and also contributed three assists as the Catalan club won the La Liga title.

Another major attacking addition

PSG's move for Torres continues an active summer in the forward line. He is the second high-profile attacker to join the French champions following the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco.

The European champions have also continued to add to their recent list of honours. On Wednesday, PSG beat Aston Villa 2-1 to win the Uefa Super Cup, underlining the momentum around the club heading into the new season.

There could yet be further changes in attack, with Bradley Barcola attracting interest from Liverpool this summer.

Strong links with Luis Enrique

Torres will now work under Luis Enrique, the former Barcelona coach and player who currently manages PSG. The pair already have an established connection at international level, with Torres having made his Spain debut under Enrique.

Since breaking into the national side, Torres has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain, reinforcing his standing as one of the country's most important attacking players.

From Barcelona to Paris

Torres had been with Barcelona since 2022, following an earlier two-year spell at Manchester City. His move to PSG now offers a new stage at a club that have won the Champions League in each of the past two seasons.

For PSG, the signing brings proven end product, recent title-winning experience and a player whose reputation has been strengthened by one of the biggest moments in international football. For Torres, it is the next step in a career that has gathered significant momentum over the past year.
