Mbappe hat-trick leads Real Madrid rout of Real Sociedad

Real Madrid turned a level contest into a commanding win over Real Sociedad, beating the Basque side 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Kylian Mbappe was the standout figure with a hat-trick, while Jose Mourinho marked his first home match back at the club with victory.

Level at the break before Madrid took over

Mbappe completes the job

The final word belonged to Mbappe. After being found by Vinicius in the 80th minute, the France forward completed his hat-trick and put the result beyond any doubt. It was the last goal of the night and the clearest expression of Madrid’s superiority after the break.

The result gave Real Madrid a second win of the season and continued a familiar trend in this fixture. Earlier this year, Madrid had also beaten Sociedad 4-1, with Vinicius playing a leading role on that occasion.

For Mourinho, it was another successful home league outing in charge of Real Madrid, echoing the winning start he made at the Bernabeu during his first spell. This time, though, the headline belonged to Mbappe, whose finishing turned a competitive first half into an emphatic Madrid victory.
