Burnley close to Marcel Reguła deal, says Zagłębie chief
Burnley are close to agreeing a deal for Marcel Reguła, according to Zagłębie Lubin president Paweł Jeż. The 19-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs.

Burnley are close to agreeing final terms with Zagłębie Lubin for Marcel Reguła, with club president Paweł Jeż indicating that a move for the Poland youth international could become a record sale for the Ekstraklasa side.
Burnley move gathers pace
Reguła has been linked with a move abroad for weeks, but Jeż has now offered the clearest indication yet that negotiations are advancing. Speaking about the 19-year-old’s future, the Zagłębie president said the coming days would be decisive as interest continues to build around the player.
Jeż explained that scouts from various clubs were present at Zagłębie’s recent match against Śląsk Wrocław and confirmed that the club are in talks with more than one suitor. Even so, Burnley appear to be the most advanced option at this stage.
According to Jeż, Burnley’s proposal has been on the table for several weeks and the two clubs are now very close to settling the final financial conditions. He also stressed that Zagłębie are approaching the situation calmly, aware that the market can still shift quickly.
Interest from Germany and beyond
Before Burnley emerged as the leading contender, Reguła had been strongly associated with clubs in Germany. FC Koeln were among the first to make a concrete move, but Jeż said their offer, submitted around a month ago, did not meet Zagłębie’s financial expectations. He added that there had been no further contact from that direction since.
Borussia Dortmund have also shown interest, although Jeż suggested Reguła is one of a number of players being monitored by their scouting department rather than the subject of a firm push.
The Zagłębie president also revealed that one possible destination had already been ruled out by the player himself. Jeż said Reguła rejected a move in the Turkish direction, underlining that the final decision will not be based on finances alone.
A deal that could set a new club benchmark
The most striking part of Jeż’s update was his assessment of the potential size of the transfer. While he did not confirm media figures directly, he made clear that the package under discussion would comfortably surpass Zagłębie’s current transfer record.
Jeż said the proposed deal includes substantial bonuses and suggested the overall value could rise well beyond the club’s previous best sale. That benchmark is currently held by Bartosz Białek, who left Zagłębie for Wolfsburg in 2020 for 5 million euros.
- Marcel Reguła is 19 and a Poland youth international.
- Burnley have made an offer and are close to agreeing final terms with Zagłębie Lubin.
- FC Koeln previously submitted a bid that was rejected.
- Borussia Dortmund are also interested.
- Zagłębie believe the transfer could break their club record.
Key days ahead for Reguła
For now, Zagłębie are keeping their options open, but the direction of travel is increasingly clear. Burnley have moved from being one of several interested clubs to the side closest to completing a deal, and Jeż’s comments suggest a resolution may not be far away.
If the transfer is completed on the terms currently being discussed, it would represent a significant moment both for Reguła and for Zagłębie’s business model. The player would take the next step in his career, while the club would secure what their president expects to be a landmark sale.
