Why Enzo Fernandez Is Valued Above Rodri

Chelsea's £120m valuation of Enzo Fernandez has raised an obvious question as Barcelona pursue Rodri for roughly half that amount: how can one of the Premier League's most decorated midfielders be valued so much lower? The answer lies less in reputation alone and more in the mechanics that drive the modern transfer market.

Two elite midfielders, two very different valuations

According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea value Fernandez at £120m, while Barcelona are attempting to sign Rodri from Manchester City for a fee in the region of £60m. On the surface, that gap appears striking given Rodri's standing in the game.

Rodri is a four-time Premier League title winner and was named player of the tournament at the World Cup with Spain. The source also notes that he is a former Ballon d'Or winner. Fernandez, meanwhile, is one of Chelsea's key midfield assets and is now being linked with Manchester City.
