Jagiellonia fan stable after fall in Tbilisi, group says

A Jagiellonia Bialystok supporter is conscious and in a stable condition after falling from the away end following the club's Europa League qualifying tie against Iberia Tbilisi, according to an update issued by supporters' association Dzieci Bialegostoku.

Incident after the final whistle

The incident happened after the return leg of the fourth qualifying round, once Jagiellonia had completed their progress to the Europa League. As players and staff approached the visiting section to acknowledge the travelling fans and mark what was described as a historic qualification, one supporter fell several metres to the ground.

Footage shared online captured the aftermath of the celebrations in the away sector, but there was initially little clarity over the condition of the injured man.

Supporters' group issues health update

On Saturday, 29 August, Dzieci Bialegostoku provided further details of what happened and the fan's current condition. In its statement, the group said the supporter lost his balance on a barrier before falling from the stand and striking the concrete below.

The same update said medical assistance was provided immediately. The injured supporter was then taken to hospital quickly and underwent surgery.

According to the statement, he is now conscious and doctors have described his condition as stable.

After the match, a tragic situation occurred during the celebrations of qualification to the Europa League. One Jagiellonia fan slipped on the barrier and fell from the stand, hitting the concrete surface below. He immediately received medical help, was taken to hospital and underwent surgery. At present, his condition is stable and he is conscious.

Celebrations overshadowed by concern

The accident cast a shadow over what should have been a landmark night for Jagiellonia. The Polish side had already put themselves in a strong position with a 4-0 win in Bialystok and then also defeated Iberia away from home to seal their place in the Europa League.

Yet the mood after the game was shaped less by the result than by concern for the injured supporter.

Siemieniec: football moved into the background

Head coach Adrian Siemieniec referred to the incident in his post-match remarks, urging restraint despite the significance of the achievement for the club and the city.

He said the team and staff were keeping their fingers crossed for the supporter and admitted the squad's joy had been heavily muted out of respect for the situation. His reaction underlined how quickly the focus shifted away from the sporting success once news of the fall emerged.

For Jagiellonia, qualification for the Europa League remains a major milestone. But in the immediate aftermath of the tie in Tbilisi, the overriding concern was for the wellbeing of the supporter injured during the celebrations.
