Corners Analysis
CornersFind matches with the most/least corners based on historical data
How many corners are there in an average match?
In Europe's five biggest leagues a match produces 9–11 corners on average, but the spread between teams is huge: possession-dominant sides that attack through the wings force 6–7 corners a game, while teams that sit deep often finish with one or two. The league average is only a starting point — what matters is the profile of the specific pairing.
Bookmakers offer lines on total corners (most often 8.5–11.5), corners per team, handicaps and first-half corners. The database shows each team's home and away averages and how often a match cleared a given line in recent games.
How to use the corner analysis
Pick a date and a line (e.g. over 9.5) and the list ranks matches by the probability of clearing it — computed from both teams' averages, shot volume and head-to-head history. League and status filters narrow the list to competitions you know and let you review finished matches.
Match details split corners by half and by team, which is key for bets on home or away corners and on the first half. Good signals combine two things: a high average and low variance — a team with 4, 12 and 3 corners in consecutive games is a weaker candidate than one with a steady 6, 7 and 6.
What drives the number of corners
Style matters more than quality: teams that cross from the wings and shoot a lot from distance generate corners because blocks and deflections end up by the flag. The referee and weather matter less than for cards, but rain and a heavy pitch push corner counts up — more uncontrolled balls cross the goal line.
Game state matters too: a trailing team attacks in a set pattern and forces corners late on, while the leading side gives up the initiative. That is why matches with a clear favourite who may be behind at the break often finish with a high second-half corner count.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the most common corner line?
- The standard total in European leagues is 9.5 or 10.5; for strongly attacking teams bookmakers raise it to 11.5, and for defensive matchups lower it to 8.5. Value appears when our estimate of the average clearly differs from the line.
- Does a corner in stoppage time count?
- Yes — all corners taken in regulation time count, including stoppage time in both halves; extra time is excluded unless the bookmaker's rules say otherwise. A corner awarded but not taken before the final whistle is usually not counted.
- Where does the corner data come from?
- From the official match statistics of our data provider, updated after every match. The model uses games from the current and previous season, weighted so recent matches count more.
- What does Premium unlock in corners?
- Without an account you see the first predictions of the day and both teams' averages. Premium unlocks the whole list, the percentages for every Over/Under line (7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 …) with the model probability, match details split by home and away, and any past day.
