Jan Urban names Poland squad with several new faces

Jan Urban has unveiled his latest Poland squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League window, making a number of notable changes after the national team's unsuccessful bid to qualify for the World Cup. The selection features several new faces, a returning option in defence and confirmation that Robert Lewandowski remains part of the plans.

Fresh calls and a trimmed goalkeeping group

Urban has opted to name only three goalkeepers this time, a decision that offers a clear indication of the current pecking order. Marcin Bułka, Kamil Grabara and Mateusz Kochalski have all been included, while Łukasz Skorupski and Bartłomiej Drągowski miss out.

Mońka, Nowak and Benedyczak earn recognition

Another newcomer is Adrian Benedyczak. The forward has been in prolific form for Kasimpasa and now has the chance to push for a senior debut. He had previously been called up by Michał Probierz, but did not make an appearance.

Puchacz returns as Urban weighs his options

Tymoteusz Puchacz is back in the squad after a two-year absence. His return could point to a tactical adjustment, with the left-sided defender's inclusion potentially opening the door to a back four.

Puchacz has impressed for Sabah FK and has already made his debut in the Champions League. His recall gives Urban another natural option on the left and adds experience to a defensive unit that also includes Jan Bednarek, Matty Cash, Tomasz Kędziora, Jakub Kiwior, Kacper Potulski, Przemysław Wiśniewski and Norbert Wojtuszek.

Kacper Urbański is another player back in the picture. After reviving his form following a move to Górnik Zabrze, he has been brought back into the fold after being out of the squad since November 2024.

Lewandowski remains involved before Nations League tests

Any uncertainty around Lewandowski's international future has been eased by his inclusion. Speaking to WP SportoweFakty, the Poland captain made clear that he would be part of the squad and available throughout the camp.

“From the beginning, that was the plan. I am coming for the whole training camp and I am at the coach's disposal from start to finish.”

Poland's training camp begins next week, with a demanding Nations League schedule ahead. Urban's side are set to face Bosnia and Herzegovina twice, as well as meetings with Sweden and Romania.
