Points Over/Under
BasketballToday's games from the widest gap between our points projection and the bookmakers' line — with an Over/Under pick for the whole game, a half or a quarter.
What the Points Over/Under module shows
For every basketball game of the day we project the points from both teams' recent games: how many each scores and how many it allows. Next to it is the bookmakers' line — the sharp one, or the market median when it is missing — and the share of both teams' games that finished over or under that line.
The same analysis runs for the whole game, each half and each quarter. The list goes from the highest projection to the lowest (Over) or the other way round (Under), and every game carries a pick from a ladder of lines around the bookmakers' one — with how often the recent games landed on each of them.
How to read a points projection
An average alone is not enough. A game projected at 168 points against a 162.5 line looks like an over, but if both teams' results swing a lot, the line falls less often than the average suggests. That is why every pick shows the share of games over the line and the history game by game.
Compare the percentage with the odds. Odds of 1.90 price about 53%; if both teams' recent games went over the line 70% of the time, that gap is worth a look. A projection a few points from the line is a signal, not a certainty — basketball has high variance.
What changes the number of points
Pace (the number of possessions), three-point shooting and transition defence decide the total. Overtime inflates it — so the whole game is counted with overtime, as bookmakers settle it, and single quarters without.
Missing leaders, back-to-back games and the end of the regular season change pace and intensity. The league matters too: the NBA plays more possessions than European leagues, so the same numbers mean different things in different competitions.
Frequently asked questions
- Where does the points projection come from?
- From both teams' recent games: the home side's points scored are averaged with the away side's points allowed, and the other way round. In head-to-head mode the projection is the average of the direct meetings. You choose how many games are analysed (5–30) with a filter.
- Is overtime included?
- For the whole game, yes — that is how bookmakers settle it. For the 2nd half too; for single quarters and the 1st half, no.
- Which line is shown?
- The line of the sharp bookmaker that sets the market; when there is none, the median line of all bookmakers. Premium also shows the range of the whole market, the opening line and its move.
- What does Premium unlock?
- Without Premium you see today's games for the whole game and part of the list. Premium gives every game on any day, halves and quarters, head-to-head mode, up to 30 games of history, filters and full predictions for every line — in one Premium together with football.
