Jakub Kiwior inspires FC Porto comeback at Casa Pia

Jakub Kiwior played the decisive role as FC Porto recovered from an unexpected first-half setback to beat Casa Pia 4-1 and strengthen their position at the top of the Portuguese league.

Casa Pia briefly threatened a surprise

Porto arrived as clear favourites after opening the new league season with five straight wins, while Casa Pia had endured a miserable start and were still waiting for their first goal of the campaign. Even so, the home side gave themselves hope late in the first half.

In the 43rd minute, Casa Pia were awarded a penalty after Rosario caught an opponent while trying to clear the ball inside Porto's box. Araujo converted from the spot to put the hosts ahead and raise the prospect of a major upset.

There was also a difficult moment for Kiwior before the interval, with the Poland international shown a yellow card for a foul in midfield. But Porto avoided going into the break behind when Andre Silva struck from close range following a corner, making it 1-1 just before half-time.

Kiwior takes control after the break

Casa Pia nearly produced another dramatic moment in the 58th minute when Clua tried his luck from beyond the halfway line, only for Diogo Costa to deal with the effort.

That proved to be a turning point. Soon after, Kiwior put Porto in front. The defender met a corner with a powerful header to score in the 60th minute and complete the turnaround.

He was not finished there. In the 67th minute, Kiwior launched a long pass towards Borja Sainz. The ball glanced off a defender but still reached the Spaniard, who finished to extend Porto's lead to 3-1.

Porto finish strongly

Casa Pia continued to push for a way back into the game for a spell, but Porto gradually took full control. The visitors managed the closing stages with far greater authority and removed any lingering doubt about the result.

In the 90th minute, Porto won a penalty after the home goalkeeper committed a foul. Santiago Gimenez converted to complete a 4-1 victory.

What the result means

The win underlined Porto's strong start to the campaign and kept the Portuguese champions in first place. For Casa Pia, the defeat reinforced a deeply troubling opening to the season. After six matches, they remain bottom of the league with just one point.

On a night that began with a scare for Porto, it ended as a showcase for Kiwior. His goal and assist changed the direction of the contest and ensured the favourites left with another league win.
