Raphinha hat-trick leads Barcelona rout of Racing Santander

Raphinha delivered the headline performance as Barcelona overwhelmed Racing Santander 7-2 at Camp Nou, with Hansi Flick’s side continuing a remarkable start to the season in La Liga.

The Brazilian forward struck three times in a one-sided contest, underlining his importance in a Barcelona attack that has started the campaign at full speed. João Cancelo also made a major impact, while Gabriel Jesus and Lamine Yamal added their names to the scoresheet as the home side ran riot.

The victory means Flick has become the first Barcelona manager to win the club’s opening seven competitive matches of a season. It also moved the Catalan side three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, a reflection of both their consistency and their attacking output.

Fast start set the tone at Camp Nou

Dani Olmo then went close on two occasions before Raphinha doubled the lead from the penalty spot after being brought down by Pedro Felipe.

Santander briefly responded through Maguette Gueye, but Barcelona quickly restored control. Cancelo was involved again when another effort from distance ended up in the net via a deflection off Asier Villalibre.

Raphinha added his second after being sent through by Olmo, capping a first-half display in which Barcelona repeatedly exposed Santander with direct running and sharp movement around the box.

Penalties, pressure and a brief scare in goal

There were still moments of frustration for the hosts. Lamine Yamal missed from the spot after Karim Adeyemi had been fouled in the area, with Julen Agirrezabala making the save. The teenager also hit the post and later saw a goal ruled out for offside.

Barcelona were also forced into a change in goal at half-time. Wojciech Szczesny replaced Joan García after the Spain international appeared to injure himself when slipping as he went to collect the ball.

Szczesny’s introduction did not go smoothly. Santander’s second goal came after the reserve goalkeeper attempted to dribble out and was dispossessed by Yassir Zabiri, who took the chance.

Barcelona’s firepower keeps flowing

Any sense of uncertainty was short-lived. Barcelona responded almost immediately by winning another penalty after Adeyemi was brought down again, and Raphinha converted to complete his hat-trick.

That took the Brazilian to nine league goals for the season and strengthened his position as La Liga’s leading scorer. More broadly, it was another emphatic reminder of Barcelona’s attacking depth and confidence under Flick, with goals now arriving from multiple areas of the pitch.
