How many goals per match? As of November 6, 2026

The Premier League's 2026/27 season has averaged 2.7 goals per match (91 matches up to November 6, 2026). 47% of those matches had more than 2.5 goals, 76% more than 1.5 and 31% more than 3.5, and both teams scored in 48%.

Of the leagues in the table below, Eredivisie has the most goals per match (3.8) and Primeira Liga the fewest (2.7).

For every match today, the list above shows how often each team's last 20 matches went over 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 goals and how often both sides scored.

Every percentage is a frequency from matches already played, not a forecast. The score after 90 minutes counts, without extra time. Free: the day's first match with the full analysis, and three matches a day with a free account. Premium: the whole list, filters (halves, H2H, number of matches, leagues) and other days. How we count: methodology

What the goals analysis shows

For every match today we calculate the expected total of goals from both teams' recent matches (goals scored and conceded separately, at home and away) and the percentage of matches that went over 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 goals and in which both sides scored (BTTS). Plus the H2H and the half-time result.

At the top of the list are the matches in which the line came in most often, at the bottom those with the fewest goals. Both ends are equally useful: under 2.5 in a match between two defensive teams is as interesting a case as an over in a match between two attacking ones.

How to use the goals predictions

The average alone is not enough. A match with an average of 3.1 goals in which 80% of games went over 2.5 is a different thing from the same average built from a few 5:1s and many 1:0s. That is why we show the share of matches over the line next to the average. Also check whether both teams score: an average driven by one attack is more of a “home team over 1.5” than an over for the whole match.

Compare the model's percentage with the odds. Odds of 1.80 on over 2.5 mean about 56% in the bookmaker's pricing; if our percentage is 68%, there is a deviation. If it is 55%, there is none, even though the match looks goal-rich. Value comes from the difference, not from a high number.

What moves the number of goals

Mostly the tempo of both sides and whether either needs the result. High-pressing teams produce goals at both ends, while relegation battles late in the season end 0-0 or 1-0 surprisingly often. A striker out of form or a missing first-choice centre-back shifts the expected total by half a goal.

The numbers cover the regular 90 minutes plus stoppage time; extra time and penalties do not count towards goal markets. Weather matters less than people think: wind and rain lower the quality of play but not always the goal count, because defensive errors go up.

Frequently asked questions

How is this page different from the tips for today?
This is the database of every match of the day with full statistics and any date back. The tips pages show a short, frozen list of selected events. Here you decide what to look at.
What does "expected goals" mean here?
The average total of goals the model expects in this match, calculated from both teams' recent games with home advantage taken into account. It is not a predicted score: with an average of 2.7 goals, results of 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 happen about equally often.
How do you compute BTTS?
As the share of each team's recent matches in which both sides scored. We also count separately how often each of them scored. If one team scores in 90% of its matches and the other in 40%, BTTS is weaker than the match percentage alone suggests.
What do you get with a free account, and what with Premium?
Without an account you see the day's first pick with the full analysis, with a free account three picks a day in every module. Premium opens the day's whole list, the filters (halves, H2H, number of matches, leagues), other days and the results history.
How often does a Premier League match have more than 2.5 goals?
In the 2026/27 season, over 91 matches up to November 6, 2026: more than 2.5 goals in 47% of matches, 2.7 goals per match on average, and both teams scored in 48%. These are frequencies from matches already played, not a forecast.
